About Apical Resection
Apical resection is an endodontic surgical procedure aimed at treating infection or inflammation at the root tip. This procedure is usually performed when root canal treatment fails or when recurrent infections occur.
How is it Performed?
Apical resection begins with the removal of gum tissue. Then, a portion of the root tip of the tooth and infected tissues are removed. Finally, the root tip is reshaped and sutured.
Advantages
The apical resection procedure provides the opportunity to directly eliminate the infection occurring at the root tip. Furthermore, this procedure can preserve the tooth and increase the chances of long-term success.
